Abstract

635,636. Automatic voltage control systems. ALLMANNA SVENSKA ELEKTRISKA AKTIEBOLAGET. Aug. 8, 1947, No. 21837. Convention date, Aug. 12, 1946. [Class 38 (iv)] In a voltage regulator for an A.C. generator of the type in which the field of an exciter is supplied from the rectified output of the A.C. generator controlled by a self-magnetized transductor, and in which a compounding impedance varies the output voltage characteristic so that it rises with increased load; the transductor is supplied on the A.C. side from the same source as the regulator input, i.e. from a voltage that does not vary with the compounding characteristic. A current transformer 3 in the output line of attenuator 1 develops across the compounding impedance 4 a voltage which is subtracted from the output of a voltage transformer 2. A resultant input voltage to the regulator is tapped off an autotransformer 5, is rectified, and applied through impedances 8, 9, of different voltage/current characteristics to the opposing voltage-measuring windings 6, 7, on the first transductor, thereby controlling the current in the A.C. winding 12. This current, which is supplied by the transformer 5, is rectified at 14 and applied to D.C. winding 15 of a second transductor acting as a magnetic amplifier to control current from transformer 5 which is rectified at 18 and supplies the alternator exciter 19. In a modification the second transductor is omitted. It is also stated, that the transductor may be connected on the A.C. side to an independent voltage source.
