Abstract
In a process for producing steel sheets from silicon steel, hot rolled sheets are subjected to a decarburizing treatment at a temperature in one of the ranges 1400-1725 DEG F. and 1900-2150 DEG F. and an open anneal in a reducing atmosphere within the range 1400-2150 DEG F. The strip may subsequently be given a surface insulating phosphate coating by treatment with a solution containing 7-50 per cent. of phosphoric acid. A number of the sheets may be welded end to end to form a strip.
