Abstract
703,999. Making electric conductors ; soldering; drawing. SIEMENS BROS. & CO., Ltd. Jan. 18, 1952 [Jan. 19, 1951], No. 1539/51. Classes 83 (2) and 83 (4). [Also in Group XXXVI] In making a cable, an outer tubular conductor or screen is formed by folding strip metal longitudinally over an insulated conductor or conductors, the cable being passed through a solder bath to soften a tin or solder coating on at least the overlapping portion and then being rapidly cooled to unite the convolution or convolutions. Copper strip is folded about the insulation which may be in disc form and of rubber or polythene. The cable is fed past preheating gas jets 3 to be immersed in molten solder 9 in a die where it is reduced to final size. The cable is then cooled by a water spray 4. The solder in the die is heated by an electric coil in a space 5 and its temperature and or the preheating means may be controlled by a thermostat in a tube 8 in the die. The cable may be for high frequency.
