702,399. Machinery guards. PRICE MACHINE GUARDS, Ltd., and PRICE, N. Feb. 18, 1952 [Jan. 26, 1951], No. 2011/51 Class 80 (4) A swinging arm type of guard 1 for a press is operated by an abutment 21a on the ram 7 of the press engaging a lug 20 on a 'pivoted arm 9 which carries the guard. A movable portion 15 of the guard is adapted if obstructed by an operator's arm or otherwise to move against a spring bias relative to the main part and, through lever 17, bring into action wedging rollers 18 of a brake between inclined recesses 19 of a boss 8 on the arm 9 and a fixed sleeve 3c so as to stop the descent of the ram.
