701,922. Rail vehicle undercarriages. GLOUCESTER RAILWAY CARRIAGE & WAGON CO., Ltd.. Feb. 20, 1952 [March 10, 1951], No. 5846/51. Class 103(6) Pads 23, which may be arcuate, are provided in the columns 12 of the side frames 11 and are urged by springs 22 into contact with the sides of bolster to damp its vertical movements. To facilitate assembly of the bolster in the side frame the shoes are provided with threaded extensions 19 and nuts 21 to withdraw the shoes 23 beneath or level with the surface 13 of the column 12. The rubbing surfaces may be of manganese steel or moulded asbestos composition. Specification 629,855 is referred to.
