Abstract

701,857. Snap-action switches; thermal switches. SOC. D'ETUDES ELECTRO MECANIQUES. Dec. 19, 1951 [Dec. 22, 1950], No. 29774/51. Class 38(5) The switch comprises a bowed disc or similar member 7 which is adjustably fixed at its centre and which carries diametrically-opposed contacts 7a co-operating with fixed contacts 9, 10. The edge of the disc engages at two points in grooves 6a in a slide member 6, these points being at right angles to the line joining the contacts. The member 6 slides in grooves 2a in the cover 2 and has recesses 6b which receive the arms 5b of a rocker 5 pivoted at 5a. The opposite ends of the rocker are engaged by push-buttons 3, 4, depression of the former causing downward movement of the member 6 to close the contacts, and depression of the latter opening the contacts. The contacts may also be opened by making the disc of bimetal material subject to the surrounding temperature, or heated by the current through it, or by a series resistance.
