Abstract

Water-proof abrasive sheet material is formed by impregnating and coating a sheet of cellulosic material with a solution, e.g. in benzene, of a product formed by heating, at 240-300 DEG C. under reduced pressure, a natural resin modified phenol-formaldehyde resin and synourin oil, applying abrasive particles to the treated sheet and drying below 100 DEG C., e.g. between 60 DEG and 90 DEG C. A second application of adhesive solution may be applied after the abrasive particles and similarly dried. Synourin oil is defined as the tri-glyceride of linoleic acid. Suitable modified phenolic resins are available under the Registered Trade Mark "Albertol."
