Abstract

642,915. Coated fabrics. MINNESOTA MINING & MANUFACTURING CO. July 18, 1947, No. 19238. Convention date, April 19, 1943. [Class 140] [Also in Group XVI] A compound fabric 20 which is especially applicable to form printer's blankets is formed of a flexible backing 11 which may be of paper or cloth treated with glue or zein, to which is glued uniformly a number of approximately uniform small globular bodies 10 such as glass &c. beads or spheres of other bodies such as metal, ceramic material, natural or synthetic resins. The beads may be applied uniformly by a spreading action, or by a moulding operation. A final adhesive sizing coat may be applied, which may be a thermosetting resin, and resins may form the adhesive layer. The fabric may be finally cured by heat. The size of the globules or beads is of the order of 0.001 to 0.005 of an inch. Specification 433,128, [Group XXIII], and U.S.A. Specifications 1,731,467, 2,011,181 and 2,073,918 are referred to.
