[Class 140] [Also in Group XV] A quantity of thermosetting plastic material required to form an article is subjected to heat and pressure so that the material assumes the shape of the article to be produced but is still capable of bonding with a further quantity of the plastic material the heat and pressure applied being insufficient to cure the plastic, a flexible decorated sheet having a dry coat of a thermosetting resin is applied to the partially cured article with the decorated face of the sheet material away therefrom, and the assembly subjected to heat and pressure to cure, whereby the decorated sheet becomes an integral part of the article. The decorated sheet may be impregnated by forming a solution of the resin, e.g. ureaformaldehyde, in a vaporizable liquid saturating the sheet therewith and drying the sheet to a limited extent. The article preform may be of phenol formaldehyde. The decorated sheet may be of fabric or paper such as Alpha pulp when a transparent sheet is required or of lithopone-loaded paper when an opaque sheet is required
