A method of finishing an article comprises applying a thin finishing sheet to the article which is moulded so as to have a sheet or web of fabric partially embedded in the surface of a thermoplastic synthetic resin body thereof, said fabric having interstices into which the thermoplastic synthetic resin of the article body penetrates so as to be mechanically locked to the fabric, and causing the thin finishing sheet to be adhered to the exposed part of the fabric. The finishing sheet can be a veneer of wood in which case adhesive must be used, the adhesive being a cold curing urea or melamine formaldehyde condensation product or an epoxide resin adhesive composition. The finishing sheet when formed of or coated with a thermoplastic synthetic resin is applied by heat and/or pressure. The fabric is a mesh material or is woven, knitted or felted to provide the interstices into which the synthetic resin of the body penetrates; the fabric can be made of metal, paper, cotton, felt, hessian, polyethylene, polypropylene, polyvinylchloride, nylon or spun glass.
