Abstract

Shoe and like laces are tagged by applying thereto, under heat and pressure, blanks of cellulose acetate or like thermoplastic sheet provided with a surface coating of a thermoplastic or thermosetting resin. A strip of cellulose acetate may be coated with a resin consisting of commercial 50 per cent polymethacrylic ester solution which is further diluted by the addition of about 9 to 11 per cent of solvent, preferably toluene or alternatively, benzene, xylene, solvent naphtha &c. The coated strip is allowed to dry and can then be used in a tagging machine of known type provided with means for severing the strip into blanks and applying heat and pressure to form and apply the tags.
