Abstract

A horticultural label comprises a support for an inscription and a transparent waterproof sheath open at one end only and adapted to fit over and closely envelop such support, said sheath being removable from and replaceable in position on the support. Suitable waterproof transparent materials are cellulose acetate and other organic derivatives of cellulose, regenerated cellulose which has been waterproofed, e.g. by coating with wax or nitrocellulose, materials containing proportions of cellulose derivatives containing higher fatty acid radicles as described in Specification 399,191, hardened gelatine, and natural or synthetic resins. The sheaths may be formed by folding a foil and sticking by means of an adhesive or by heat and pressure, or they may be made directly by coating formers with a solution of cellulose derivative, or by moulding.
