Class 122 (5) A seal between relatively rotatable parts 9, 10 is formed by a composite sealing ring consisting of a ring of resilient material 2 and a ring of rigid material 1 bonded together in axial alignment and located, under axial pressure, in an annular groove 12 in one part 9 the resilient ring 2 being seated at the bottom of the groove and deformed to make contact with the walls of the groove and urge a radial face 3 of the rigid ring 1, which is a sliding fit in the groove 12, into sealing contact with the other relatively rotatable part 10. The resilient-ring 2 of synthetic rubber is of D section and the rigid ring 1 is of sintered bronze. A secondary leather-type seal 15 is located between the composite ring and a sealed bearing 6.
