Abstract

A composition for sheathing electric cables which retains its flexibility down to -45 DEG C., does not alter the electrical properties of the polyalkylene dielectric by migratory effects and may be processed without critical temperature limitations, comprises a substantially homogeneous mixture of the following in approximately the proportions by weight indicated:- Copolymer of vinyl chloride and vinyl acetate 30-35 parts. Copolymer of acrylonitrile and butadiene, 30-35 parts. Polyester of propylene glycol and sebacic acid, 20-25 parts. Basic silicate of white lead, 2 1/2 -5 parts. Dibasic lead phosphite, 2-4 parts. Low molecular weight polybutene, 2-5 parts. Small quantities of lubricant, pigment and anti-oxidant may also be present in the mixture.
