700,108. Dressing grinding-wheels. HALLEWELL, H. S. Dec. 31, 1951 [Jan. 3, 1951 ; May 9, 1951], Nos. 280/51 and 10948/51. Addition to 573,877. Class 60 The copy-trueing apparatus of the parent Specification is provided with a modified tool mounting in which a bracket 1<SP>1</SP>, mounted to traverse across the profile of the grinding wheel 39, is formed with a recess for the reception of at least two tool carrier blocks in tandem, the blocks being provided with individual clamping and aligning means. Preferably, three blocks 12, 13, 14 are provided to carry finishing, semi-finishing and rough-trueing tools respectively which are set at progressively increasing distances from the wheel and brought opposite the vertical centre line B of the latter in turn. The blocks are located by the faces of the recess, clamped by screws 20, 26, 31, and adjusted laterally by screws 24, 29, 39 carrying collars to engage recesses in the blocks, the collar on the screw 39 acting on the block 14 through a lever 32. The screws 20, 26. 31 may be adjustable in the bracket 1<SP>1</SP> or they may be fixed with adjustable collars. The height adjustment of the tools in the blocks may be effected by backing-up screws as described in Specification 641,397. The bracket 1<SP>1</SP> is formed at the end of an arm 1 of channel section integral with a rotatable spindle 2 carried by a link 4 of the copying mechanism.
