Abstract
The invention comprises 1-dialkylcarbamyl-4-methyl piperazine mono-oxides of the general formula <FORM:0699547/IV (b)/1> wherein R and R1 represent alkyl radicals containing from 1 to 4 carbon atoms, and a process for the preparation of the above compounds by reacting the required 1-dialkylcarbamyl-4-methyl piperazine with a peroxide or a per-acid in the presence of a solvent. The reaction may be carried out at a temperature of 0 DEG to 75 DEG C. The preferred solvents are lower aliphatic alcohols, but water and lower aliphatic ketones may also be used. In the example 1-diethylcarbamyl-4-methyl piperazine mono-oxide is prepared by reacting 1-diethylcarbamyl-4-methyl piperazine in ethyl alcohol with aqueous hydrogen peroxide. 1-Dimethylcarbamyl- and 1-methylethylcarbamyl - 4 - methyl piperazines are referred to as additional reactants which may be used in the example.
