Abstract
698,681. Clocks. CHAMBERS, D. Aug. 10 1951 [Aug. 29, 1950], No. 21323/50. Class 139. A timepiece comprises a container closed to the atmosphere and substantially filled with oil, operating mechanism for the timepiece disposed within the container and immersed in the oil, a hand or hands for the timepiece disposed within the container which has at least one transparent wall through which the hand or hands may be inspected together with dial markings on the container wall. The casing 1, Fig. 1, is made of suitable materialimpervious to oil and is closed at the top by a metal plate 6 and a gasket 4. The stem 14, Fig: 2, of the winding crown 18, projects through a hole 11 in the plate 6 and a gland comprising a bush 12 and a plug 16 prevents leakage of oil. A threaded plug, Fig. 3, not shown, provides access to the regulator. The container 1 is inserted in a second container 23, Fig. 7, which has a circular recess 24. The top plate 6 is secured to the case 1 and to base plates 25, 26 by bolts 21 and nuts 22 the nuts serving as feet for the clock.
