Abstract
698,494. Edge-runner mills. BERZ, M., and PFEIFFER, BARBAROSSA-WERKE AKT.-GES., GEB. Oct. 2, 1950 [March 31, 1949], No. 24090/50. Class 59 A grinding mill of the edge-runner type has rollers e pressed on to a 'rotating grinding track f by a spring-loaded pressure ring b of which the lower surface bears against roller extensions d which are not in contact with the track. A renewable annular ring c is fitted on the underside of the pressure ring and the rollers may have both inner and outer extensions loaded by a pair of concentric annular rings c on a single pressure ring b or on separate concentric rings. The grinding track and the rollers may be corrugated or have conical teeth and the rollers are preferably three in number and connected by a spider 9. The loading springs a may be mounted outside the housing and act on the pressure ring through rods projecting into the housing. The mill may be mounted in a horizontal or a vertical position or any intermediate position.
