Abstract

698,102. Vehicle fittings. WALKERS & COUNTY CARS, Ltd., and TAPP, E. T. J. April 25, 1952. [April 25, 1951] No. 9700/51. Class 78 (iv). A vehicle comprising telescopic sections 35-39 is operated bv a hydraulic ram, the effect of which is multiplied by block and tackle mechanism connected to a telescopic section. A hydraulic cylinder 15 supported in a rectangular framevrork on the chassis extends from the front and has a piston rod 13 with a spindle at its end carrying a pair of pulleys one of which, 16, is shown. A pair of pulleys 11 and 12 mounted on vertical axes at the ends of the vehicle support a cable secured to the section 39 and passing round one of the pulleys on the spindle and anchored at 19 to the chassis, the cable also passes round the other pulley 16, to an anchorage 20. Extending the piston retracts the sections and ejects material from the vehicle. The telescopic sections carry rollers 42 running on rails on the framework while rollers on the spindle run on bracing members of the framework. The pulley arrangement can be duplicated and the telescopic section has two points of attachment to cables.
