Abstract

1,138,441. Road rollers. LAMBERT ENG. CO. (GLASGOW) Ltd. 30 Nov., 1965 [9 Dec., 1964], No. 50189/64. Heading B7H. A road roller including a rigid roller member 11 is provided with a ballast weight 31 movable transversely of the vertical plane through the axis of the roller member by a lead screw 32 which engages a threaded bore in the weight and is rotated by an electric or hydraulic motor 34 controlled from the driving cab 35. The weight 31 may move down the screw 32 under the effect of gravity alone. The roller member 11 and a pair of steerable road wheels 12 may be driven separately or simultaneously from a diesel engine 14 through separate transmission means, and a pair of road wheels 13 are extensible by hydraulic rams to raise the roller member 11 from the ground.
