Abstract

1,169,125. Portable bridges; bridge-laying vehicles. DR-ING. H.C.F. PORSCHE K.G. 26 March, 1968 [31 March, 1967], No. 14494/68. Heading E1G. A portable bridge 2 comprising parallel road tracks one each side of a supporting vehicle boom 10 is provided with longitudinal inwardly-facing channels 14, 15 terminating in end stops 18 and ramped roller-exit cutouts S, the channels forming guideways for longitudinally-spaced guide and drive roller pairs 11, 12 on the boom. To off-load the bridge, the rollers 12 are electrically or hydraulically rotated to roll it along the boom 10 until the rollers 12 reach the stops 18, whereafter the boom 10 is tilted as shown by cylinders 8. The vehicle may be stabilized by lowering a scraper blade 24. The ramped surfaces adjacent the cut-outs S facilitate entry of the rollers 11, 12 when picking the bridge up again. The bridge may, as shown, be carried in one piece.
