Abstract
697,811. Radiant heating apparatus. RADIATION, Ltd. Jan. 1,1952 [Feb. 16, 1951], No. 3789/51. Class 51(i) [Also in Group XI] A gas heated radiant heating apparatus adapted to be mounted overhead with the front face inclined to the vertical comprises a concave back part within which is secured a gas supply pipe, a heating unit adapted to be connected to the back part by suspensory means and a removable front cover. A substantially rectangular concave back plate a of sheet metal is shaped so that the plane of its front edges is inclined at about 15 degrees to the flat rear surface of the plate, and a gas supply pipe b is secured to the back plate along the vertical centre line. A heating unit comprising a rear fire brick, horizontal burner and radiating elements (not shown) is mounted in an iron frame d provided with sockets e located on a horizontal axis through the centre of gravity of the heating unit. The sockets e engage the ends of of a bracket c secured to the back plate. A cover f, with a front aperture g, vent k, and air inlet m is hooked over the upper edge of the heating unit and secured to lugs j on the lower part of the frame d. The apparatus may be secured to a vertical wall n by screws passing through the back plate, or may be suspended by a swivel connection between the pipe secured to the back plate and an external gas supply pipe.
