Abstract

697,229. Pallets and slings for handling loads. HUNN, H. E., and EAST & SON. Ltd. Feb. 6, 1951. [Feb. 15, 1950] No. 3888/50. Class 78 (iv). A combined pallet and cargo board comprises panels 1, 2, 3, 4 forming upper and lower decks and spaced by metal bearers 5, 6 carrying loops 9 or the like for engagement by lifting gear. In the construction illustrated the panels 1, 2, 3, 4 comprise wooden boards spaced by metal channels 5, 6, disposed with their mouths facing outwardly, and by a wooden bearer 7. The outer corners of the end boards 1, 4 and of the flanges of the channels 5, 6 are cut away at 10 at an angle of 45 degrees and the loops 9 are welded at the ends of the channels 5. 6 to project at 45 degrees to the sides of the pallet. The panels 1, 2, 3, 4 may be formed of metal or other suitable materials.
