Abstract

699,130. Pallets for handling loads. YOUNGMAN, Ltd., W. C., and YOUNGMAN, W. C. June 24, 1952. [June 27, 1951] No. 15223/51. Class 78 (iv). At least one of the upper or lower transverse wooden members e of a pallet is joined at both ends to the outer longitudinals a, c by a groove and tenon joint preferably arranged as shown in Fig. 3 so that part of the transverse member behind the tenon rests on the longitudinal. In the construction of Fig. 1 all the intermediate transverse members e of the upper deck, and the single transverse member e of the lower deck are joined in this manner to the longitudinals a, c while the outer transverse members d take into transverse rebates in the ends of the longitudinals. The transverse members e are glued, or glued and screwed, to the longitudinals a, c and the transverse members d are screwed to these members. All the transverse members are nailed to an intermediate longitudinal b. The single transverse member e may be arranged as a diagonal brace or a reversible construction employed. The outer transverse members d may be secured similarly to the intermediate transverse members e.
