Feb. 18, 1952, No. 4225/52.Class 64 (iii) [Also in Group XXXVI] A tank filled with oil or other insulating liquid and containing a plurality of metal rectifiers immersed in the oil is provided on its outside walls with pipes or passages through which circulates a cooling liquid such as water..In the example shown in Fig. 1, a square tank 1 has pipes 2 arranged zig-zag fashion and welded or otherwise secured to or made integral with the tank walls. The pipes 2 on each wall are connected individually or collectively, e.g. in series or parallel through control valves, &c., to a water supply. In Fig. 3 (not shown) a tank wall comprises pipes joined together by spacing pieces. In Fig. 4 two plates 8, 9, channelled or indented as at 10 form a tank wall. The tank may be of any other desired shape, e.g., drum-shaped and the passages other than circular in cross-section, e.g., oval or rectangular.
