Abstract
1336477 Induction coil heating ELECTRICITY COUNCIL 24 May 1972 [25 May 1971] 17044/71 Heading H5H An induction heating coil, Fig. 4, comprises series-connected strip-material coils 40 having the width of the strip parallel to the axis of the coil, the coils being cooled by immersion in a coolant in a liquid-tight vessel. Spacers 42 separate the coils and electrical interconnection is by strip 43, 44. The coils 12, Fig. 1, are housed in a chamber 11 having walls 14 and 15. The wall 15 is made of material such that it will heatshield the coils from the hot workpiece 10. The chamber, Fig. 3, comprises outer and inner walls 25, 20 engaging a top and base, 26, which are compressed together by tie-rods 27 and compression ring 30 around the ends of the inner wall. Seals 28 and 29 are provided. Liquid coolant is admitted via ducts 33 and passes out via ducts in the end plates, see Fig. 2 (not shown). The coolant may be water or oil.
