Class 45 [Also in Group XXVIII] In a joint in which a slotted sleeve 11 is compressed on to the aligned ends of rods or tubes to be joined by split clamping rings 18 having ears 19 drawn together by a bolt 20, each clamp is correctly located on the contractible ends of the sleeve by two longitudinally aligned tongues 17 pressed out of the material of the sleeve, by two diametrically opposite lugs 22 pinched out of the sleeve in radial alignment with the inner tongue 17. The slots are diametrically opposite the tongues. The sleeve may have at its ends internal screw-threads of opposite hand for screwing on to the tubes.
