696,562. Evacuating packages. WINGFOOT CORPORATION. Feb. 20, 1950 [Oct. 22, 1949], No. 24224/51. Divided out of 696,546. Drawings to Specification. Class 94(i) A machine in which an article is enclosed between webs of heat-sealable material which are sealed together around the article, comprises a reciprocable nozzle which is connected via a conduit provided with a relief valve to a vacuum pump. The nozzle is inserted between the webs prior to the engagement of resilient sealing means therewith and is withdrawn just prior to the disengagement of the sealing means, whereby the latter press the webs tightly around the nozzle while the air is withdrawn and seal the opening formed by the nozzle after the withdrawal thereof. The machine described comprises two nozzles arranged on opposite sides of the webs and is the same as that described in the parent Specification.
