Abstract
695,904. Injection-moulding flexible containers. UNITUBO SOC. ANON. March 30, 1951 [March 31, 1950], No. 7472/51. Class 87 (ii). The mould comprises a cap 4 which forms the exteriorly-screw-threaded container neck 1, a cylinder 5 which is. a friction fit in the lower end of the cap, and a core 7 having a pedestal-like base 9. The core has an axial bore 10 which receives cooling liquid. The mould is pressed against the injection nozzle 17 by means of a push-rod 12 having a centering projection 11 which engages the core bore 10. The neck 31 of the core has projections 14 which centre the core and form openings in the head of the flexible container. The mould is housed in a heating member 22 mounted on a tubular member 16. The injection cylinder 18 has a heating member 19. When the container has been moulded (e.g. from polyethylene) as shown, and cooled by liquid introduced into bore 10, injection plunger 20 rises and the rod 12 falls. The mould and core comes to rest on a plate 26, and the cap is separated from the cylinder and unscrewed from the container, The cylinder 5 may be replaced by a plurality of cylinders arranged in interengaging end-to-end relationship. A plurality of moulds may be mounted on a revolving plate which presents them successively beneath the injection nozzle.
