Abstract

A lubricating oil composition comprises a major proportion of a non-paraffinic, for example Mid-continent, mineral lubricating oil of 135-300 S.S.U. viscosity at 210 DEG F, and 3-12 per cent by weight of a resinous product, having a viscosity of at least 1,000 S.S.U. at 210 DEG F, obtained from a paraffinic residual oil, such as Pennsylvania oil, by precipitation with propane. From 2-5 per cent by weight of fatty oil, such as tallow, may also be added. Specification 563,632 and U.S.A. Specification 1,818,431 are referred to.
