Abstract
695,241. Automatic speed control systems. LANFERS, H. H., TER BRUGGE, B. R., and MULDER, H. W. S., [trading as INDUSTRIEEN HANDELSONDERSNEMING ANTAGON]. June 1, 1951 [June 2, 1950], No. 13047/51. Class 38 (iv). [Also in Group XXXVII] An electric motor 1 drives a conveyer chain 2 and is coupled to a generator 9 which is adapted to energize a relay 13 through adjustable transformer 10, rectifier 11, and neon tube 12, the relay 13 controlling a contactor 18 for the motor. The arrangement may be such that, when the motor is operating at normal speed, the voltage applied to the tube 12 is just sufficient for its ignition and, when the speed of the motor falls due to an overload, the tube is extinguished, the contactor 18 opens, and the motor is disconnected. The apparatus may, however, be adapted to prevent over-speeding so that, upon the speed of shaft 4 rising to an excessive value the neon tube 12 strikes and the relay 13 operates, breaking the circuit of the electromagnet 18 and thus releasing the switch 19 to disconnect the motor. The tube 12 also acts as an indicator.
