Abstract
675,324. Switch covers. METROPOLITANVICKERS ELECTRICAL CO., Ltd. Oct. 23, 1950. [Feb. 22, 1950] No. 4599/50. Class 38 (v). A safety arrangement for electric apparatus comprises an interlock switch 3 arranged to interrupt the supply to the apparatus when a part 2 of the apparatus, e.g. a door or cover, is moved from a normal operating position, a control member 6 being provided whereby the supply circuit may be completed when the part 2 is away from its normal position, the member 6 being held in a circuit-completing position by a latch 8 which is tripped when the part 2 is restored to its normal position. The switch 3 is normally held closed by a rod 5 on the part 2 acting through member 6, Fig. 4, removal of the part 2 allowing the plunger 4 to move to the right to open the switch. After such removal of part 2, the plunger 4 may be moved to the "on" position by the member 6, this movement of the plunger being greater than before so that the bell-crank latch 8 can drop behind the member 6, Fig. 5. Restoration of part 2 causes a shoulder 13 thereon to trip the latch and allow the plunger 4 to move to the right again until member 6 abuts the rod 5, the switch 3 now being under the control of the part 2 again.
