Abstract

1,082,897. Electrically-released switches; electromagnetic switches. TEIZO FUJITA. Aug. 27, 1965 [Aug. 31, 1964], No. 36985/65. Heading H2B. A switch has a support member 21 carrying movable contacts 23 (one shown), an operating electromagnet with an armature 5, a latch 25 interconnecting the member 21 and the armature 5, and overcurrent responsive means 28 to actuate the latch 25 to release the member 21 from the armature. When the latch is released, the contacts separate more rapidly and to a greater extent than occurs when the contacts are opened by de-energizing the operating electromagnet. Also, when the contacts are opened by the release of the latch, an indication is given by a part 21a which is then visible through a window 37a in a push-button 37. Depression of the push-button 37 to reset the latch is necessary before the contacts 23, 19, 20 can be reclosed by energizing the operating electromagnet. Auxiliary contacts 12, 13 may be operated by the armature and other auxiliary contacts (not shown) may be operated by the support member 21. The overcurrent responsive means may be an electromagnet 28 as shown, and it may be provided with a time delay by means of an hydraulic device or by a thermal relay. Alternatively a bi-metallic tripping device may be provided,
