Abstract
695,216. Electric ironing machines. OPPERMAN, E. G.' Oct. 17, 1951 [Nov, 8, 1950], No. 27290/50. Drawings to Specification. Class 39(iii) An iron or pressure plate for an ironing machine, e.g. of revoluble roller type, comprises an electric heating element divided into at least two sections, and means for switching on one or more of the sections to heat different parts of the roller. In a particular embodiment the element is housed in a pressure plate spring mounted adjacent a roller supported at one end only, e.g. as described in Specifications 673.538: [Group XL(a)], and 673,539, [Group XII] and the element is in two sections of which either both or only that section at the free end of the roller may be energized by means of a manual switch.
