Abstract

694,527. Metal-working presses. BLASKOPF, F., [trading as RITSCH REISSVERSCHLUSSFABRIK M. BLASKOPF]. March 20, 1951 [March 28, 1950], No. 6671/51. Class 83 (iv). [Also in Group V] A high-speed multiple press for pressing or stamping small articles from metal or artificial resin comprises a driving shaft 1 rotating in fixed bearings of the press frame and press plungers 3 having the form of or carrying the tools, the said plungers being actuated by cams 2 rotating with the driving shaft, each of which cams acts directly on the upper end face of the plunger and stresses in its working stroke a spring 6 provided for lifting the plunger belonging to it, the said press being characterized by the feature that the lifting spring of each press plunger bears at its upper end against a collar 7 on the plunger and at its lower end against a member 8 adjustable into two positions for varying the stressing of the spring. The member 8 is a ring surrounding the plunger 3 and having inclined teeth 10 extending downwards and flattened at m. The teeth 10 on the ring can mate with teeth 11 extending upwards from a fixed part 5, likewise inclined and flattened at n. When the adjustment is such as to impart maximum compression to the spring the flats m rest on the flats n, Fig. 2. When the ring 8 is turned, e.g. by means of a lever, the inclined faces of the teeth 10, 11 slide on one another and the ring descends and eases the stress in the spring. The contour of the cam 2 is designed, as described in detail in the Specification, so that it changes gradually where required to ensure that the cam and plunger remain in contact, even at high speeds of operation. Three (or more) plungers may be driven from a common shaft, Fig. 4, journalled in a casing 20, and apertures 23, 24 may be in the casing for access to the cams and spring- adjusters respectively. The apertures are closed by covers, e.g. 27, and the casing filled with oil for smooth running.
