Abstract
489,248. Presses; machinery guards. EUSTEGE, T. P. Sept. 6, 1937, No. 24278. [Class 87 (ii)] [Also in Groups XXII and XXIV] The reciprocation of a presshead is obtained by means of a cam 21, Fig. 1, rotating on a vertical axis and transmitting motion by pairs of rollers 32, 33 to a sliding head 29 coupled to the tool head 35. The cam is dual patterned and is rotated by a dog 19 slidable with a rod 20, Fig. 4, carried in a hollow shaft 17 driven by bevel gearing 16, 14. The depression of hand grips 44, Fig. 4, moves the rod 20 downwardly against the action of a spring 39 through the medium of linkage 43, 41, 40. The top and bottom surface of the cam may be similar or not in contour, and may be arranged for providing uniform or non-uniform movement of the tool.
