Abstract
503,728. Mechanical presses. WATERBURY FARREL FOUNDRY & MACHINE CO. Aug. 30, 1938, No. '25390. Convention date, June 9. [Class 87 (ii)] A punch-carrying plunger 17 of a press, such as an eyelet press, is moved downwardly by a cam 39 adapted to engage a roller 34 mounted in roller bearings in the upper part of the plunger, and upwardly by a knee-piece 52 secured by a removable cap 54 to the plunger and rigidly secured to a vertically-guided rod 45 having an arm 43 engageable by a cam 41. The squared lower part of the plunger is guided in frame parts 19, 20 co-operating with removable caps 19a, 20a. The plunger is made in telescoping parts adjustable by means of a wedge 29. The press may have a number of plungers operated by cams on a common shaft. The guide-rod 45 is held frictionally at its upper end. In a modification, a vertical guide rod is provided on each side of the camshaft.
