Abstract

1,135,114. Rotary tabletting press. PENNSALT CHEMICALS CORP. 17 May, 1966 [2 June, 1965], No. 21819/66. Heading B5A. In a rotary tabletting press an adjustable locating cam means 28, 30, 34 determines the lower or " fill " position of each lower punch 16 and an adjustable cam means 36 determines the intermediate position to which each lower punch is raised to push excess material out of the die and so determine the amount of material to be compressed. The cam 36 is vertically adjustable by a mechanism including a shaft 46, gearing 48, 42 and a screw spindle 40. The locating cam 28, 30, 34 is also vertically adjustable by a mechanism including a shaft 78, gearing 76, 74, sprocket and chain means 68, 70, 72 and screwed sleeves 58, 60. The two adjusting mechanisms may, as shown, be connected to a common hand crank 50 or have separate hand cranks. The amount of excess material pushed out of each die may be maintained constant for different amounts of material to be compressed.
