Abstract

1,204,579. Feed mechanisms. ETABS. D.F. 2 Aug., 1968 [3 Aug., 1967], No. 36897/68. Heading B3W. Feed apparatus for a press comprises feed rollers 14, 15 rotated intermittently by means of a stepping mechanism 2, preferably driven by the crank-shaft of the press, the stepping mechanism being connected to the rollers by gears which are replaceable by gears of differing sizes to vary the feed stroke, gears 4, 5, 6 and 8 constituting coarse adjustment means and gears 10 and 12 constituting fine adjustment means. The gear-wheel 11 or gear set between the gears 10 and 12 is a direction-reversal gear and also compensates for differences in diameter of the gears 10 and 12. The roller 15 is drivably connected to the directly driven roller 14 by gearwheels 16a-16d and may be lifted by means (not shown) to allow fine adjustment of a workpiece relative to press tools. A brake 24 is provided on roller 14. The feed apparatus may be attached to the input or output side of the press and comprises a housing 17 adjustably mounted for height on the press by means of screws 18 passing through elongated holes 19. Preferably the housing is hinged to the press so that it can be swung aside as a whole.
