Abstract

1320682 Feeding strip or sheet stock CINCINNATI MILACRON Ltd 21 July 1970 [21 Aug 1969] 41762/69 Heading B3W [Also in Division F2] A roll 30a of a stock-feeding device at each side of a power press is driven with intermittent variable increments through a helical gear pair (41a, Fig. 1, not shown) cross shaft 37, one-way roller clutch (35, Figs. 1 and 3, not shown), pinion 44 and rack 45, which last-named is reciprocated in a stationary guide-tube 51, through a connecting rod 46, by a variable throw crank 19 on a continuously rotating input shaft of the press. Coarse adjustment of the feed increment is provided by adjusting the crank 19 by a diametral screw 22, whilst a fine adjustment capable of operation whilst the machine is running, is provided by a handwheel 66 on a stationary screw 57, turning of which varies the inclination of the rack guidetube 51 about the axis of the output shaft 37, and pinion 44 on which it is pivotally mounted. As shown the stock-feed rolls 30a, (30b) on each side of the press have a common drive through the cross shaft 37, but in Fig. 5, not shown, both sides have reciprocating racks which are linked together and capable of independent adjustment. Instead of using one-way clutches, the stockfeed rolls 29a, 30a may be separated during the negative stroke.
