Abstract

Muscovite mica is pulped by heating to cause partial dehydration, in plunging it after cooking to room temperature into the liquid in which it is to be reduced to pulp, and in agitating it in this liquid under a relative depression. The depression may be obtained by a partial vacuum or by reduction of a pre-existing pressure above atmospheric to a lower pressure or a partial vacuum. Preferred heating is between 700 and 900 DEG C. Specifications 661,876 and 661,877 are referred to.
