694,215. Excavating earth. BRISCOE, E. V. April 13, 1951 [June 24, 1950], No. 8704/51. Class 68(i) In a machine for cleaning and grading ditch banks, to the upper end of each upwardly inclined blade 10 that works a side of the ditch there is mounted, so as to be slidably positioned along the blade 10, a supplementary blade 16 that can be positioned with respect to the blade 10 laterally of and level with the top of the bank. The blade 16 is caused to rotate about a pivot 22 secured in a mount by a piston and cylinder assembly 23, 25, whilst the mount is so supported on the blade 10 that it can be slid along the blade and can be clamped thereto, when in the desired. position, by bolts 14. The mount is so shaped at 27 as to guide the material from the blade 10 to the blade 16. The pivot 22 is mounted in ears 18, 19.formed on the mount and said ears are of different length so that the longitudinal axis of the blade is substantially horizontal when in the working position and substantially parallel to that of the blade when in the non- working position.
