A root crop harvester comprises digging blades 6, the shanks 5 of which are slidable within the limbs 4 of an inverted U-shaped member 3, which is itself slidable in brackets 2 fixed to the frame 1 of the machine. The upper ends of the shanks 5 are interconnected by a lever 7 supported on the frame 3 so as to be pivotable about a vertically adjustable horizontal axis 8 in response to the actuation of a hydraulic cylinder 25. Thus the height of the working depth of the blades 6 may be adjusted by raising or lowering the frame 3 relative to the frame 1, and when the harvester is working on uneven terrain, the working depths of the blades may be adjusted accordingly by actuating the hydraulic cylinder 25 to pivot the lever 7 about the axis 8. The harvester also comprises a riddling conveyer 16, the lower guide roller 14 of which is journalled in plates 12 fixed to the limbs 4 of the frame 3. Thus when the height of the frame 3 is adjusted, the lower part of the conveyer is adjusted correspondingly. In order to bridge the gap between the conveyer and blades 6, the latter are provided on their rearward edges with hinged fingers 27, so mounted that their inclination to the horizontal is automatically adjusted as the blades 6 are raised or lowered. The Specification also refers to a harvester having three digging tools, the two outer ones being slidably mounted in a vertically adjustable frame as above.
