Class 3 (i) [Also in Groups XXIX and XXX] The containers 15 move in two vertical adjacent columns within a framework each container rests on rollers on the one below it and has side rollers engaging the uprights of the framework. The containers have lugs 70 for engaging an upper motor operated transfer trolley 60 and lugs 90 for engaging a lower transfer trolley 80. The containers are raised and lowered by rams 50 and 51 in synchronism with the transfer trolleys. The upper trolley has reversing contacts 68, 69 for the motor at either side of the framework and a time delay switch 64. The trolleys are interconnected to operate simultaneously and may be driven from one motor or have independent motors. The lower trolley carries arms which operate to close the valves 107, 109, controlling the rams so that the rams are automatically raised and lowered. Retaining arms for the containers during the transfer are mounted on bars 26 and a hand-operated lever is connected by a spring with the bars so that by presetting the handle up or down the arms are swung inwards or outwards. When swung inwards on the ascending column side the arms engage under projections 37 on the container. On the descending side the arms are moved inwards by a projection 39 engaging a projection on the container. The bypass valves 107, 109 for the rams are operated to open the valves at the limit of the ram when rising. The valves have a plug and a by-pass which when the pressure rises sufficiently operates a piston against spring pressure to cause a latch to rotate the plug and open the valve to return the fluid to the reservoir.
