Abstract

Vinyl chloride and a gaseous mixture of acetylene and hydrogen chloride is isolated from a gaseous mixture of the same with an inert gas such as air by first condensing vinyl chloride acetylene and hydrogen at say 0 DEG C and 20 p.s.i., purging uncondensed air and other constituents from the system, and feeding said condensate to a still from which a gaseous mixture of hydrogen chloride and acetylene, and liquid vinyl chloride are obtained. The uncondensed air and other constituents are fed to a second condenser at -40 DEG C and the resulting condensate is combined with the first condensate being fed to the still.
