Abstract
692,390. Pulverulent-fuel cyclone furnaces. POLLOPAS PATENTS, Ltd., and BURG, H. June 13, 1951, No. 14022/51. Class 51(i) A pulversized-fuel furnace comprises a substantially horizontal burner tube 5 discharging into a coaxial combustion chamber of smooth, circular, cross-section, the chamber having a flared portion increasing in diameter from the end containing the burner, means in the burner tube for imparting a rotary motion to the fuel-air mixture leaving the burner, air inlets 27 distributed around the peripheral wall of the combustion chamber and inclined to the radius thereof, means for supplying air under pressure to said inlets to produce within the combustion chamber a sleeve of air rotating in. the same direction as the fuel-air mixture leaving the burner and adapted to confine the burner flame to the central axial zone of the combustion chamber, and means for pre-heating the air supplied to the burner tube and to the said inlets to a temperature of at least 200 ‹C. Vanes 25 in the burner tube impart a rotary motion to the issuing fuel-air stream. French Specification 641,478 is referred to.
