Abstract

692,125. Chaff cutters. GRIEFF, F. May 16, 1951 [May 20, 1950], No. 11459/51. Class 5(i) Chaff is cut between stationary cutters 9, Fig. 3, and rotary cutters 4 mounted on a hollow shaft 5 in an air channel 3 which sucks the chaff from the hopper 1 through the cutters, the shaft :5 being directly driven from a fan shaft 6 projecting into the end of the shaft 5, and driving it by friction or by a safety shearable coupling 7. The chaff then passes to another similar set of co-operating cutters 9, 12, but with closer spacing to cut more finely, after which the chaff passes through the fan 2 for delivery through a pressure pipe 14. The rotating cutters 12 are also fixed' on the shaft 5.
