Abstract

The glass walls of electric lamps and the like are coated with a suspension containing finely grained pulverulent material, a liquid preferably water and an inorganic metal fluoride. Specified fluorides are those of calcium or magnesium or their double fluoride and it is preferred that they are present in less than 10 per cent e.g. less than 5 per cent. Additional materials such as alcohol, boric acid or phosphoric acid may be present in the suspension. Silicic acid and fluorescent powders are specified as finely grained pulverulent materials.
