Abstract
691,297. Discharge lamps. BRITISH THOMSON-HOUSTON CO., Ltd., DAVIES, L. J., and BEESON, E. J. G. Jan 12, 1950 [Jan. 25, 1949], No. 2035/49. Class 39(i). The anode of an electric discharge lamp of the compact source type comprises an outer sheath 1 of a highly refractory metal of relatively low thermal conductivity such as tungsten or molyb denum, over a core 2 no exposed to the discharge which is of a metal of lower melting point but higher thermal conductivity, such as copper. The sheath may be extended to form a lead in conductor, and the core further extended to form a terminal 3 and carry radiating fins 4. According to the Provisional Specification, the copper core may also have a cavity for cooling fluid. Specification 555,344 is referred to.
