690,868. Sheet-delivery apparatus. TIMSONS, Ltd., and TIMSON, E. A. Nov. 17, 1950 [Dec. 20, 1949], No. 32605/49. Class 100(i) [Also in Group XXX] In a machine comprising an endless conveyer to which sheets from a printing or analogous machine are delivered the conveyer 1 is periodically moved forward at an accelerated rate by rollers 10, 11 adapted for periodic co-operation to engage and grip the conveyer between them and effect the accelerated advance. The conveyor is continuously driven by a roller 4 on a shaft 5 which also carries a toothed wheel 26 driving a small sprocket 28, which through wheels 30, 32 drives the roller 10. Rollers 10 and 11 are geared together by gears 23, 24, but are of different diameters so that rubber protuberances 18, 19 on the rollers come together as shown to grip the conveyer and accelerate it only once in a predetermined number of roller revolutions which may be changed by varying the ratio of the number of teeth on gears 23, 24. Sheets 9, 9<SP>1</SP> fed to the conveyer are thereby separated and counting of the sheets facilitated. Alternatively the periodic acceleration may be obtained by providing one roller with a protuberance and one plain roller which is moved into gripping location at predetermined intervals.
